A LESSON LEARNED

096.JPG

Erika Jones has always been independent and able to provide for herself and her six-year-old daughter.  When she loses her job, she is faced with the reality of how she will maintain her household without financial means.  She surprisingly runs into an old boyfriend, Ricky Johnson, who gives her the opportunity to make money, but unfortunately, not the honest American way.

In her decision to get involved with Ricky, she quickly discovers that everything that glitters is certainly not gold.  Erika begins to make easy money, but learns along the way that there is a price to pay when you play the “game.”  She encounters many uncomfortable situations that make her contemplate her newfound lifestyle.

Unlike most young females caught up in the fast life, Erika Jones has goals to achieve.  She and her cousin, Robin Davis, are involved in a legitimate joint business venture that will support her the honest way.  The dilemma for Erika is if she can endure the tribulations and emotional hardships of the game just long enough to raise money to open her business.

Life takes a turn for the worse as turmoil erupts, really forcing Erika to get her priorities straight.  Erika takes a long, hard look at her life and accepts her flaws for what they are worth.  Her ambition and inner strength allow her to put her pride aside and move her life in the right direction.  Her ultimate decisions encourage any woman to turn a negative situation into A Lesson Learned.

Theodore had been calling all day leaving messages.  He had gone to my school but couldn't understand why I hadn't been there.  It was about 8pm before I picked up my phone to talk to him.

"Where you been Princess?  I been callin' you all day.  How are my babies?"

"Babies?  There is no more baby."

"What did you say?"  He asked as if he didn't understand what I had said.

"There was a short pause before he said anything.  "Bitch you did what?"  You killed my fuckin' baby, my fuckin' seed!"

     "Yo baby!  Our baby!"

"Thanks to yo selfish ass there is no more baby."

"This is my body.  I was going to be the one sittin' at home like a damn soccer mom not you."
